The emblem of the Nigeria Tax Authority, replacing the Federal Internal Revenue Service, has been revealed.
A newly established institutional brand image was introduced during a gathering in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to The PUNCH, the NRS became operational after President Bola Tinubu signed its establishing legislation, referred to as the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Act 2025, in June 2025.
During the launch of the logo, Zacch Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of NRS, stated that the logo and additional branding components mark a significant step forward in the development of Nigeria's tax collection system.
A press release from his Special Advisor (Media), Dare Adekanmbi, cited him stating, "The launch of the NRS brand signifies a fresh dedication to a more cohesive, effective, and customer-focused tax system, which corresponds with Nigeria's economic development goals and international standards."
He mentioned that the new identity "demonstrates consistency in objectives, enhanced organizational capabilities, and a progressive strategy for assisting taxpayers and advancing national growth. The Nigeria Revenue Service continues to be dedicated to openness, collaboration, and superior customer service. The introduction of this updated identity marks not a conclusion, but the start of a more robust connection between the tax authority and Nigerians, founded on confidence, understanding, and mutual success."
In the meantime, The PUNCH stated that Tinubu has maintained that the new tax regulations will come into force on 1 January 2026, according to schedule. This information was shared through a document he personally signed on Tuesday. Previously, claims were made about changes being made to the officially published tax reforms. Abdulsamad Dasuki, a representative from Sokoto State in the House of Representatives, claimed that the versions of the tax laws released publicly included clauses that hadn’t been discussed or endorsed by legislators. These concerns led to demands for delaying the enforcement of these laws.
Although recognizing the worries regarding the legislation, Tinubu stated, "The new tax regulations, such as those implemented on 26 June 2025, along with the other statutes set to come into force on 1 January 2026, will proceed according to schedule. These changes represent an exceptional chance to establish a just, dynamic, and strong financial base for our nation."
The tax regulations were not created to increase taxation, but instead aim to facilitate a fundamental transformation, promote alignment, safeguard human worth, and reinforce societal agreements. I call upon all involved parties to back the execution phase, which is currently progressing effectively. Our government acknowledges the ongoing discussions about potential modifications to certain parts of the newly passed tax legislation. However, no significant problem has emerged that justifies halting the reform efforts. Genuine confidence develops gradually via sound choices, not through hasty responses.
