ACF Condemns Maiduguri Mosque Attack, Calls for Vigilance

The Arewa Council of Dialogue (ACD) strongly criticized the bombing of a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, that took place on Wednesday, calling the event tragic and very concerning.

A statement released on Thursday by the Forum's National Publicity Secretary, Professor Mohammed Tukur Baba, indicated that the Forum expressed "deep sorrow" over the incident, lamenting the loss of life in the assault and offering prayers for the eternal rest of the deceased.

The ACF also showed compassion towards the injured worshipers, hoping they would recover swiftly and completely, while offering heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims and others impacted by the disaster.

The Forum also expressed sympathy to the Government and residents of Borno State, along with all Nigerians, highlighting that the event served as a sorrowful reminder of the ongoing danger posed by terrorism and instability within the nation.

As per ACF, the assault highlights the fact that the problem of terrorism remains untamed and not sufficiently managed, even with continuous actions taken by security forces.

Remembering its latest Christmas statement, the Forum emphasized that the battle against instability needs to be vigorously directed at the "traders of terrorism" with the speed and intensity required by the circumstances.

"It is completely unimaginable and entirely unacceptable for criminals to be permitted to push the nation to its breaking point," the Forum stated, emphasizing that such actions should never be accepted in any form.

Therefore, ACF urged increased awareness at all times, especially in areas where people gather, like houses of worship, marketplaces, and community events, cautioning that antisocial and unlawful individuals, whether from abroad or within the country, should not be permitted to disturb everyday life or achieve any success against peace and security.
