The Abia State Representative for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, part of President Bola Tinubu’s political organization, Chief Henry Iko, met with Governor Alex Otti on Wednesday to present his accomplishments in different areas of the Abia state economy.
On Wednesday, Iko expressed praise during a press conference, after visiting Governor Otti privately in his home town of Nvosi, located within the Isialangwa South Local Government Area.
He mentioned that the trip was authorized by President Tinubu and asked for Otti to demonstrate greater bravery in serving the citizens of the state.
"I'm here today to meet with our governor, the Governor of Abia State. I serve as the Abia State Coordinator for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors," Iko stated.
We have arrived to meet the governor with a message from the President, passed on by our Director-General, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma. Our purpose is to extend good wishes. The President has instructed us to call upon several key individuals in our state, and I believe we both concur that the governor is the foremost person in this state.
That is why I am here to extend good wishes to him, to encourage his growth, and to inform him that we have witnessed his actions within this state. Going ahead, may God grant him the strength to accomplish even greater things. Democracy is here to remain, and the people of Abia are determined to make sure that development arrives at every local community. Thus far, he has been producing noticeable outcomes, and the President has instructed us to convey that, as President, he desires the state to attain further achievements.
Iko mentioned that, as stated by the governor, he intends to accomplish further initiatives for the residents of Abia State, aligning with his growth objectives.
He further recognized that Otti has successfully employed the legal funds provided by the federal government to him, and he thanked the President for this assistance.
"When examining Abia State, you'll find that there are clear advancements which weren't present previously. In reality, we can sense and observe the effects taking place here. I urge Governor Otti to accomplish even greater things," Iko stated.
Initially, I should acknowledge the President, as he has facilitated greater funding for every state via his changes.
When questioned about whether the trip aimed to bring Otti into the governing All Progressives Congress, Iko stated that this was not the case.
I am not here to request him to join APC or refrain from joining APC. I will not discuss this matter further. His Excellence is the governor, and the decision rests solely with him.
Iko, who previously served as the Minister of Science and Technology, was joined by other leaders from the APC, such as Pastor Emeka Inyama.
The visit follows several days when the Deputy Senate President, Benjamin Kalu, urged Governor Otti to align with the APC before the 2027 polls.
Over the past few months, the APC has seen a surge in members leaving from opposing political groups.
