The Indian envoy in Ethiopia expressed his belief that Digital Ethiopia 2030 will lay a solid foundation for transforming the nation.
Ambassador Rai mentioned that India intends to collaborate with Ethiopia on tangible results such as loans for individuals, direct assistance for agricultural workers, social welfare programs, precise monitoring of residence status, and aligning capabilities for growth.
He emphasized, 'This is crucial for maximizing every individual's potential within the economy.'
As stated by the Ambassador, this effort places Ethiopia at the forefront of digital innovation in Africa, enhancing efficiency, administration, and strength.
He mentioned that according to the newly launched strategy, the Digital Ethiopia 2030 initiative seeks to provide nearly all Ethiopians with access to 5G connectivity.
Throughout the week, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed reiterated the government's dedication to digital progress, formally introducing Digital Ethiopia 2030, an extensive national strategy designed to maximize technological potential for equitable growth.
The Premier highlighted that Ethiopia has effectively moved forward from its earlier plan, noting that "Digital Ethiopia 2025 was finalized upon largely meeting its set objectives."
The visionary strategy aims to provide 5G internet and fiber-optic broadband access to all individuals, facilitating connectivity between urban and remote regions, as stated by the ambassador.
"Under the Digital Ethiopia 2030 initiative, every Ethiopian will have access to 5G internet and digital identification via the FAYDA project," Rai stated.
The Diplomat highlighted that possessing a digital ID through FAYDA and accessing 5G connectivity will enable every citizen of Ethiopia to participate in the financial sector.
Afterward, they will become qualified for loans and can handle their savings more efficiently. This is how the whole nation will establish a seamless and unified marketplace, explained the Ambassador.
These advancements promote financial access, enabling residents to become key participants in economic activities.
Through integrating all individuals into the financial system via fiber IDs and high-speed networks, Ethiopians gain access to credit, savings opportunities, and investment avenues—supporting the development of a contemporary market economy driven by personal abilities contributing to national progress.
