The Nigerian federal administration officially reported at an early hour on Friday that U.S. military operations targeted extremists active in the northwestern region of the nation.
The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs verified in a declaration from its representative, Kimiebi Ebienfa, details about "targeted aerial attacks aimed at extremist locations within Nigeria's Northwest area."
The government stated that the attacks carried out by American forces were considered part of organized safety coordination and information sharing with the United States.
It noted that the collaboration involves the sharing of information, strategic alignment, and various types of assistance in line with international law, mutual recognition of independence, and common dedication to stability within the region and worldwide.
The federal government stated that the airstrikes conducted by American forces were intended to protect civilian populations, preserve national cohesion, and defend the rights and honor of every citizen, regardless of religion or ethnic background.
Any form of terrorist activity targeting Christians, Muslims, or other groups continues to be contrary to Nigeria's principles and threatens global peace and stability.
"This resulted in accurate airstrikes targeting terrorists in northwest Nigeria," stated the Nigerian federal government in the release.
A complete declaration from Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs states: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria affirms that Nigerian officials continue to be involved in organized security collaboration with global allies, such as the United States of America, in tackling the ongoing danger posed by terrorism and extreme violence. As a result, targeted aerial attacks have been carried out against extremist groups in the northwestern region of Nigeria."
In accordance with recognized international standards and mutual agreements, this collaboration involves the sharing of information, strategic alignment, and various types of assistance that comply with international law, respect for each nation's independence, and common goals related to stability within the region and globally.
Nigeria emphasizes that every anti-terror initiative prioritizes the protection of civilians, preservation of national cohesion, and respect for the rights and honor of all people regardless of their religion or ethnic background. Any act of terrorist violence targeting Christians, Muslims, or other groups continues to contradict Nigeria's principles and threaten global peace and stability.
The central government remains committed to collaborating with its allies via formal diplomatic and defense mechanisms to undermine terror groups, interrupt their funding and supply lines, and stop transnational dangers, all while enhancing Nigeria's internal security systems and intelligence resources.
The Department of State will remain active with key stakeholders and ensure the population is updated via proper governmental sources.
